Smart Community Plan

A couple weeks ago I had something interesting happen to me at work. I work as waitress and for those of you that waitress you know a large part of your job is small talk. It is not uncommon for my tables to ask me where I am going to college. So when I had a couple ask where I was from I said Madison College and I am going there for Radiology. The uncommon thing about this was that instead of the couple saying "O good for you" instead this couple asked me about the up and coming referendum.
To be completely honest with you at that point I knew very little about the Smart Community Plan. So I decided I would look into it because I needed to learn more about what my school was doing to help make it better for me.
In short the smart community plan will provided the much needed up to date facilities to keep job and degree training current and affordable. Currently there is not enough room to house some of the greater in demand jobs. For example this is my 3rd Fall on the waiting list for Radiology. The program itself can only accept about 22 students per year. The need for Radiographers is huge in the community and Madison College sees that it is their job to step in and help.
But I bet your wondering what the cost will be to the average tax payer like my couple that night at dinner was. Well the cost to a homeowner of a House values at $245,00 will pay only $2.74 per month in taxes towards the Smart Community Plan.
Isn't it worth $2.74 if it means that 7096 of the police officers, firefighters, nurses, and EMT's trained at Madison College stay with in the Madison College district to work keeping the tax payers safe and healthy at all times.
